Steve Jobs and Jony Ive once dreamed of an iPhone that was a seamless slab of glass—no buttons, no ports, no distractions. But at the time, the technology didn’t exist to make it a reality. Fast forward to 2027, and Apple may finally make that vision a reality with the iPhone 20 Pro, a device so futuristic that it could redefine smartphones forever.

A True All-Glass Design: No Ports, No Cutouts, Just Magic
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a radical redesign for the iPhone 20 Pro—one that features a curved, edge-to-edge slab of glass with no visible bezels, no charging port, and no display cutout. Instead of traditional bezels, Apple is reportedly developing a “four-sided curved display,” which would wrap the screen around all the edges of the phone, leaving the front looking like pure, uninterrupted glass.
Under-display camera and solid-state battery
To achieve this ultra-clean look, Apple will eventually bring an under-display camera (UDC) to the iPhone, hiding the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors beneath the screen. Charging? Wireless only—likely MagSafe—since there won’t be any ports.
But the biggest upgrade could be inside: a solid-state battery with a silicon cathode, which promises longer battery life and faster charging than today’s graphite-based cells.
A tribute to 20 years of iPhone innovation
2027 marks two decades since Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone, a device that would change technology forever. It’s the 10th anniversary of the iPhone X, which introduced OLED, Face ID, and gesture navigation. Now, the iPhone 20 Pro could be Apple’s next breakthrough moment—if they can pull it off.
The big challenge: Can Apple’s supply chain deliver?
With such an ambitious design, production won’t be easy. Even though Apple is moving iPhone production out of China, the iPhone 20 Pro could still be assembled there, drawing on China’s decades of experience in high-quality iPhone manufacturing.
One thing is for sure: If Apple succeeds, the iPhone 20 Pro won’t just be a phone—it’ll be the future.
